One of my favourite early Grandaddy songs has always been Black Bats so it's been nice to have an excuse to tab it out. Not sure why I've labeled the riffs in the wrong order or what the notes are supposed to be in the "second" one but you'll get the idea. Get yer best screaming voice out and have a go! Oh yeah, if you wanted to play the long version with the slow bit on the end with the weird lyrics on the windfall varietal you just carry on with the same chords but slower and include riff 3.

Code: Select all
Grandaddy - Black Bats

Intro

Ab G

F#m Bm G Em F#(major)
F#m Bm G Em F#       riff 2

F#m       Bm    Riff 1
I'm extra smart

G             Em               F#                         Riff 2
I've seen the better you and I know which one I'd choose

F#m          Bm    Riff 1
But I'm torn apart

G             Em               F#                         Riff 2
Black bats in the attic, wondering which one is you

Instrumental (same chords)

F#m       Bm    Riff 1
I'm extra smart

G             Em               F#                         Riff 2
I've seen the better you and I know which one I'd choose

F#m          Bm    Riff 1
But I'm torn apart

G             Em               F#                         Riff 2
Black bats in the attic, wondering which one is you

Riff 1

  Bm             G
e:------------------
b:------------------
g:------------------
d:------------------
a:----2-4-5--4-20---
e:--2------------3--

Riff 2 (something like)

  F#        F#m
e:-----------------
b:--10//////12-----
g:--11//////11-----
d:-----------------
a:-----------------
e:-----------------

Riff 3 (for extended version)

e:------------------
b:------------------
g:------------------
d:------------------
a:------------------
e:--2-3-4-5-4-3-2---

My tab notation could use some work but what I basically mean by riff 2 is that you play rapidly

repeated notes on the G and B strings. Not entirely sure of the notes so corrections

greatly appreciated there. Good luck!
I has a PhD.
