Wow, I wasn't aware of this one. I was searching for all songs listed on the old Grandaddy's website, but didn't see this one. Thanks, a new song to listen to. If I found it.
Grandaddy rarities are absolutely great ! Some of my favorite songs from them are rarities.

edit : Now I know why I don't have it. I'd decided not to search for demos songs. But maybe now that I've heard almost all rarities I'll probably look at them.

All us folks from the old board know you love Build a Box, haha.

I sort of categorize grandaddy rarities in 2 categories, released, and unreleased. But off the top of my head, i can't really decipher the two so i will just throw out some favorites...

Down On The Open Brine
Shouldn't Be Like That
Final Team (one of the best chorus' ever!!!!!)
Aisle Seat 37-D
Lava Kiss
I'm Not Alright
Forget You Then
Hey Cowboy, The Phone's For You
Trouble With A Capital T
Rattlesnake Song
Fare The Not Well Mutineer
Nothing Big
Getting Jipped

I know im missing some of my other favorites, but for now that will do.

I didn't count Lava Kiss because it's on two albums (Concrete Dunes & Broken Down Conforter Collection). On the unoffical albums there are many other great song of course like "At My Post" from "Excerpts from the Diary of Todd Zilla" (By the way there is a good video clip of this song on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3IiHp7Qhx4 ). But I don't consider those songs as rarities as they are on Grandaddy's Album. So they are easier to find.

Forget You Then ?

As for the others they appears to be on a the "The Gathering Tape" I've just heard about that, I guess you have the album.

If you'd never heard about the other songs I listed, I recommend you to listen to them, they are great.
But you must know "Our Dying Brains", listen to the studio version, I think it's a really good song. Alan Parsons In A Winter Wonderland is like a child song, but really good, I love to listen to it.

This is becoming a "must watch" thread. Car crash TV but without the TV, the car, or the crash.

Anyway, to warrant posting here I'll list mine (not a long list because it's bed time):

Fare The Not Well Mutineer (always tops my list), Aisle Seat 37-D and Moe Bandy Mountaineers would usually do it for me. I'm going to add The Weather Girl (I realise this is a jason song and it's very much available but it'll still be rare to come by). Oh, and Winners! cos it makes me smile and it hasn't been mentioned yet (Maybe you don't count it as rare? hmmm).

Not sure if I'd describe anything off Todd Zilla as rare... or unofficial...

Concrete Dunes & Broken Down Conforter Collection = contentious issue perhaps = fun (not x 3 - that's something else)

Alan Parsons? I laughed sooooo hard the first time I heard Jason sing Time.

Confused? I am. Night!
I has a PhD.

Fishing Boat Song, closely followed by Aisle seat 37D.
I like a lot of them though.

Aisle Seat 37-D is one of my favourite Grandaddy songs, above and beyond favourite rarities... I ritually listen to it every time I get on a plane. Strangely comforting...

Also love:
MGM Grand
Thee Everything (someone else checked some Jason-only rarities)
Nature/Nacher Anthem

As well as many already mentioned (Derek Spears, Fare Thee...).

I've always leaned towards the slower, sadder stuff when it comes to the B-sides, one-off tracks, etc. So I'd go with for starters:

Wonder Why In L.A.
XD Data II
Aisle Seat 37-D
What Can't Be Erased
First Movement.....
She-Deleter

And yes have to echo Troy's sentiment on "Build A Box." My favorite unreleased Grandaddy track. When you have the ability to fuck up so many relationships like I do these songs speak to you on a whole other level!

There are lots of songs here that I don't know !!

Favorite rarities (that I know ..) :

Nature anthem (but I agree, this is not a rarity)

Aisle Seat 37-D (and I want a video for this song, with animals as passengers, and a dog as first character, who is looking for a foto of his favorite bone. Well, something like that.)

Fare Thee Not Well Mutineer (demo)
Hawaiian Island Wranglers (I just have the Peel Session, any other version ?)
Alan Parsons in a Winter Wonderland
Re-Learn How To Be Shy
Emit Anymore
Rode My Bike To My Stepsister's Wedding (both versions)
Volvo in G

Why Would I Want to Die
I Need you cover
Build a Box
I'm Not Alright
I'm Not In Love cover
Fishing Boat Song (this is how I discovered M.Ward !)
The Town Where I'm Living Now
Wives of Farmers
Sure It Worked
