New solo album from Jason on Aug 16: "NYLONANDJUNO" ?!

Postby pithyname on Fri Jul 26, 2019 7:43 pm

Guys, I had no idea this was on the way but I just received an email from Dangerbird Records saying that NYLONANDJUNO is the name of the new solo album from our guy Lytle. The album will be released on August 16. This is good news!

There's even a new song to listen to over on Brooklyn Vegan:

And here's the track list:

Arthur King Presents Jason Lytle: NYLONANDJUNO
1. Hitch Your Wagon To A Falling Star
2. Change Of Address / 433 Eros
3. Geese Over Sunlight Ace
4. Don’t Wanna Be There For All That Stuff
5. Dry Gulched On Rodeo Drive
6. 15 Items Or Lesson You
7. Iris Leader Evening Footage
8. Headed To The No Light District

Clip from the article:

Grandaddy frontman Jason Lytle has a new album titled Arthur King Presents Jason Lytle: NYLONANDJUNO which is out August 16 via Dangerbird Records. It’s the latest installment in an ongoing experimental album series from creative collective Arthur King and, as hinted by the title, Jason made it using only a Juno synthesizer and a nylon-string acoustic guitar. “I wondered how working within these limitations would end up,” Lytle says of making the instrumental album. “Turns out it was a pretty fulfilling exercise just concentrating on going deep and trying to achieve certain feelings based on the song titles and subject matter I was chasing.” We’ve got the premiere of “Dry Gulched,” which sounds like a cautious exploration of an alien landscape. “Getting ‘dry gulched’ is an ol’ timey term for getting ambushed or attacked,” Jason tells us. “It’s just absurd or funny because Rodeo drive in Beverly Hills is what it is.”

Looks like there will be some live shows at least in NYC and a accompanying short film as well. Clip from the email:

The release of NYLONANDJUNO will be accompanied by an experimental short film by Mind Palace featuring the album's music as its score. The film will debut at 98 Orchard gallery in New York City on August 15th and will be on view there until August 21st. Jason will also perform live at the event's opening reception on the evening of August 15th.

This event is part of a larger exhibition featuring the work of various Arthur King collective members and Randy Randall of No Age.

OK, glad to have some good news. Good luck out there everyone.

You could be outside right now.

Good Records and the NY show seem to be it, so far.

(And the new album is an instrumental - he's teased a little about it on social media - appears to be part of some series Dangerbird are putting out - "Arthur King presents" - not sure if there's more albums from other artists or what, but they appear to be some sort of music collective...

I always enjoyed these peaceful Lytle's piano instrumental pieces. Can't wait for my copy
